Get to know Christofer Drew Ingle

NeverShoutNever aka Christofer Drew Ingle

Christofer Drew Ingle is a singer/songwriter from Joplin, MO. He is in four bands currently. He is in Never Shout Never with Caleb Dennison (lead guitar), Nathan Ellison (drums), Taylor MacFee (bass), Dustin Dobernig (keyboard), and Hayden Kaiser (percussion). Some other friends on tour with him are Jeremy Burke (friend/tour manager), Carter Hulsey (best friend), Scott Fahrig (friend/tech guy), Nick Smith (friend/merch guy), Big Cat(tech), Denton (sound guy), Hansel(mastermind), and Lucy(tour pug). On stage you'll usually see Chris singing on a rug without anything on his feet. There are usually scarves or flowers on the mic stand.

He plays the uke, guitar, harmonica (usually at the same time as guitar), and sometimes a tambourine. He can play the piano. He can even play the drums a bit. His bandmates are also members of his side project called eatmewhileimhot. They play all the same instruments and Chris screams his heart out. :) He does ALL the vocals. He told me on May 7th that there will be some new eatmewhileimhot songs online for FREE soon! :D He just recently started two other bands. The first is called Glenwood. Chris plays bass, Hayden Kaizer plays drums, Scott Fahrig plays guitar, and Taylor MacFee is the lead singer. They've only had one show so far. Glenwood is mainly just for fun so they can jam with their friends. He started yet another band called "the ooolala". It was really just a one-day thing. He was home on break for a week and had some tunes in his head he needed to get out. He called his buddy and they got real stoned and recorded some stuff. He probably won't work any more on it though. He recently tweeted: #becauseofweed i started a band call[ed] "the ooolala" haha

He has released 3 EPs and one full-length album. On July 27th, Never Shout Never will release “Melody” and eatmewhileimhot will release xALBUMx. On August 24th, Chris will release his first album under Christofer Drew called “Harmony.”

Up in Personal:

Growing up was hard for him but he made it through and has no regrets. He was born in SanDiego and lived there until he was 2. He then moved to Portland and lived there until he was 5. He grew up in Joplin, MO. His parents' names are Nancy Keifner and Edward Ingle. His mother taught him about life and love. His father taught him about music and how to be a man. His parents have recently divorced (August of '09), which inspired his new song "What Is Love". He has an older brother named David who is an artist. He has two younger sisters. Hannah is 18 and off to college. He is paying for her tuition. Sarah is his 15-year-old sister. She inspired his song "15". Chris' high school life was rough. He got picked on for not playing football. He did, although, run track, cross country, and thought about tennis as a career for a while. His father was big into tennis. He was a real dork in high school. No one really talked to him. Therefore, he would stay home half the time and make music. Then; he got dropped. That is sometimes the hardest thing for him to tell people. He doesn't want anyone to think that dropping high-school is a good thing. At about 13, he started getting interested in the guitar. He learned how to play on his dad's guitar. He started smoking when he was 14. He smokes American Spirits which are pure tobacco. He is trying to quit. His 16th year was a busy one. That year, he started Never Shout Never. He became a vegetarian that year as well. At 16, he lost his virginity to his girlfriend of 8 months. His love was pure; hers was not. He found out that she cheated on him with one of his team mates from the tennis team. This experience inspired his song “Lost It". At the time, he hung out with his friends at a hookah bar where he had his first experience with weed. That year of his life was full of experimentation. He got into some heavy shiz. He is not very proud of it. He started experimenting with a lot of psychedelics. He said they were fun, but not something to take as lightly as he was. That phase of his life is complete though. It was a great time of self discovery. He's always had low self-esteem and been depressed in his teens. His parents weren't pleased with all his behavior, so they kicked him out. Nick Smith dropped out of school with him to help support him and because he believed in him. He spent 3 months living in his car and friend's couches. He got back on his feet with the help of his friends and band mates. His music brought him through his hard times. He's produced 3 EPs and his first full-length album. He's currently on tour. He just finished up touring on the AP Tour in his band Never Shout Never along with The Summer Set, Every Avenue, Hey Monday, and The Cab on the AP Tour. Warped tour is where he’s at right now. Having a blast and chillen with his buds all summer long :)
Chris has many tattoos. He got his first one when he was 16 in a trailer park. That tattoo is on his right wrist. It says "faith" in Hebrew. The peace sign on his left foot symbolizes how he tries to walk in peace every day. He has double bands on his biceps and the Greek symbols for Alpha and Omega on his forearms. The Alpha is on his right forearm and the Omega is on his left. Alpha and Omega symbolize beginning and end. There is a sun on his right shoulder and a crescent moon on his left, also symbolizing the beginning and end. He has a live tree just under the sun on his right bicep above the bands. He has a dead tree just under the moon on his left bicep above the bands. There is a black bird with its wings spread on the both of his forearms just under his elbow. On both of his elbows, he has a yin-yang sign. He just recently got two new tattoos on his wrists on April 22 in front of about one thousand of his fans. Each is made up of a band, dots all the way around, another band, two circles inside each other, and another band. Inside the right circle is the Chinese symbol for the eternal Tao and inside the left circle is the Chinese symbol for peace and harmony. The tattoos face in. Chris has an anchor on each hand. The design is intricate and detailed. His right hand has his mom's initials, "N. K." His left hand has his father's, "E. I." His right knuckles have the word "LIVE" across them and his left have "FREE". On his right thigh is a treble clef that usually extends all the way to his knee so you can see it in the knee holes of his jeans. A bass clef is on his left thigh and doesn't extend as far down. Across his chest just under his collar bone reads "Love is my Weapon". Under that, taking up the rest of his chest, is a dove with its wings spread. This symbolizes peace in his heart. Probably his least known tattoo is the word "TRUTH" on the inside of his bottom lip. Chris got it on March 20 after the Austin, Texas SXSW at Emo's. He was kinda regretfully "messed up" and went down the street to get it done. Teeny-tiny stars inside his Chinese tattoos were first spotted in his "join the revolution" picture of him pouring coooookie crisps that he posted on June 5th. He probably got the tatt on June 1st when he tweeted the word "ouch". :) He's said his body is a canvas and he's gonna "put his body to shame". So, there are many more to come.
**there are more. if you want a full list, i have one posted separately, and on ask.com several times.

Chris loves him some hats. :) Each hat symbolizes a phase in his life. His navy blue pilot hat symbolized him being on autopilot. His white sailor hat symbolized him being lost at sea. So far, my favorite has been his bear hat. It symbolizes him being a wiley kid and just havin fun. His raccoon hat was the last one he wore. He has not yet talked about what it means to him. He hasn’t worn a hat since he cut his hair.
Chris has had the same hair for his whole music career. Lots of his fans only like him because he’s cute; his hair was a big part of that. He wants to be known for his music, not his looks. On May 15th, he got a mohawk. Although liquor inspired his decision, it was a good decision. Just before a performance in his hometown of Joplin, MO, called Boom Town Days, Chris cot his hair cut yet again. It is just hair. He titled one of his early pictures “fuck hair.” because it doesn’t make him who he is. It will weed out all of his fans that only liked him for his looks. I, however, will stand by him. :)
Another accessory he is never seen without are his bracelets. He only wears them on his left wrist. Every time you see him, he'll have more and/or different ones. He normally has many on at one time. Most are gifts from fans that are thrown to him while onstage. He shows how much he cares about his fans by wearing them.
His style is very unique. He is strongly influenced by the Bob Dylan and Beetles era. They influence everything he does; his music, style, mood, and behavior.
He is single. His favorite color is green; the color of life. He is 5'11". He is left-handed, but plays with his right. His gauges are 7/8 and he is planning on going to 1 inch. His least favorite song of his is "Trouble" and his favorite song is "On The Brightside". "Harmony" is another one of his favorites. He just writes songs to get emotions or thoughts out of his mind; not for money. He doesn’t want to be famous-he hates cameras-although he would love for his music to touch as many people as possible. When he was offered a contract with Disney when he was 16, but turned it down because he's NOT A SELLOUT - people need to quit saying he is. He believes that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. He loves everyone and respects their beliefs. He does not go to church. He hasn't been since he got kicked out when he was 16. He does love his Jesus though :) He has a strict vegan diet. It was a little difficult to get used to, but now his body feels great! Also; it keeps him slim, hah. Being vegan on tour has been hard, so he has gone back to vegetarianism for now. He has an apartment in Joplin where he lives with one of his best friends; Carter Hulsey. His mom has moved into his room since his parent's divorce; he sleeps on the living room floor. He even recently bid on a house in Joplin. He loves talking to his fans and loves to hear how we view life and such. He loves the people that have enough guts to come and converse like regular people with him. He got a live band so he could take some of his best friends on tour with him. It makes the whole experience a little more fun. He knows some of us hate it, but you haters have to understand that he does what makes him and his best friends happy. Not you. He is 100% straight. He has been called gay ever since he started playing music. I guess he does come off that way (high voice, tight clothes, girly hair, lol). He assures us though, that he loves himself some lady. He has had the same girlfriend for about 2 and a half years on and off-they have officially broken up since Jan or Feb '10. He changes with each day. He takes steps forward and back. He tries to grow like a tree, and hopes that he can reach his full potential by the end of this short life. Change is good, but growth is better :) He hopes to have a rebirth with this new album. He would love to put out this record under "christofer drew"; but he still needs to work out some logistics, hah. He has about thirty songs written and ready to record; but unfortunately…he must choose. The new sound is going to be a little more folk-driven. He is scheduled to record his new album this summer. Since he was about thirteen; he has always been a very heart-broken person. He mostly only listened to melancholy or depressing tunage. Although, as he started to get a couple more years on him, he started to develop a love for feel-good music. He thinks in a sense; it fills the void. He just wants to create music that makes people feel. It doesn't always have to be happy, but he always wants there to be emotion behind the music. He can't completely speak for his family; but at first, they were a little more startled than anything. He literally dropped out of high school out of nowhere and hit the road. He got kicked out of his house for a little bit, but as his parents saw that he was genuinely working towards a goal; they happily welcomed him back. As of now, his family is unbelievably supportive. He misses them everyday, and hopes that he can make them proud. At the moment, he is completely single and not looking; just waiting for love to naturally occur. If he was looking...he is attracted to girls that he can't figure out. Also, he loves a girl that smiles. :D He likes brunettes, but doesn't really care as long as they are just as smelly and happy and loving as he is. :) The reason he practices positivity is because there is no reason not to. This life is literally exactly what you make it. You can look up, or you can look down. He chooses to always look up. He smiles instead of frowns.
Christofer Drew is an inspirational guy. He is a role model in so many ways even though he doesn't think so. He has been through what so many other teens have been through and has learned from it. He tries to spread peace and love to everyone that will listen. He is so REAL with his fans and doesn't hide anything. That way, we know who he is as a person. He lets us all in and shares what's in his brain on a normal basis.

Christofer Drew's Poems

The first twenty poems i post are part of the first volume of a poetry series "SOME WORDS" that's gonna be published here in a bit.  hope they can help you find your soul...it exists deep within.

-christofer drew

beginning with now

in the beginning of now
all is as is
we are as free as the wind

we are grounded by self-pity

in the beginning of now
all is as is
we are as deep as the sea

we are drowned by delusion

in the beginning of now
all is as is
we are as distant as stars

we recluse to our minds

love and hate

love is that of bitter-sweet
pleasureful surface
gracefully deep

hate is that of a foolhardy-weep
powerful feeling
frivolous seep

love is that of a beautiful-hurt
florescent bloom
enlightened dirt

hate is that of quarreling-twins
identically lost
nobody wins

love is that of dreamful-bliss
passionate touch
impossible risk

hate is that of urgent-zilch
trifling matters
spoken filth

when i grow old

a sack of pus and blood and bones
a skull of vastness, thoughts, and mold
a heart of love that's grown so cold
is this my fate when i grow old?

a quiet home to wait my day
the day that i go on my way
my quiet home will then be sold
is this my fate when i grow old?

a mound of ash that once held life
is carried by my widowed wife
this is the saddest tale i've told
is this my fate when i grow old?

special
special you are
especially you
don't let this world
tell you who is who

you are who you are
you'll be who you'll be
you're special enough
especially for me

these three men

the angry man shouts hate aloud
the lonely man has been put down
the tired man is named the clown
excuses put them in the ground

the accused man is quick to blame
the guilty man he holds no shame
the judging man shall build is name
these three men are all the same

the quiet man is slow to speak
the patient man will take no peak
the upright man will turn his cheek
simplicity is their's to keep

pangea
we have come much farther than history knew
yet we live in the past; change is past due
assembled dissections distant our lands
a line on a map; a gun in my hand

we have come much farther than history knew
yet we live in the past; change is past due
these borders, these outline must come to an end
united as one; unanimous friends

esoteric lovers
you administer your aching conclusion
that my mind is so fickle; runs off delusion
you have your theory tremendously wrong
i speak from my heart; it translates in song

you say nothing in life is ever quite certain
uncertainty leaves you with with nothing i'm certain
trust me, believe me, or never let go
of all the ideas that keep pain afloat

i am so happy that i have you dear
the days are just moment; the minutes like years
this world will be ours if you can let go
esoteric lovers; we whole-heartedly roam

unanswered

who am i?
who are you?
what are we?
what to do?
what was then?
what is now?
where is up?
where is down?
where am i?
where are you?
how to win?
how to lose?
how to live?
how to die?
am i wrong?
am i right?

modern-day weep
lost in the sequence of up-to-date thought
frustrated minds insufficiently taught
silencing thunder; digital light
comical plunder; chemical fight

subconscious motives driven by greed
to live is to die and to die we must bleed
sounds of madness; centuries deep
self-induced sadness; modern-day weep

ecstasy
a child's eyes gaze with no surprise
no concepts or views to scrutinize
ecstasy lost by discovering death
we learn that we die as we take our first breath

a middle-aged man will try to stay young
he lost half his youth yet he's only begun
ecstasy lost by self-evident tears
we learn how live once we lose half our years

a gray whiskered man acknowledges fate
the time it draws near yet he sets no date
ecstasy lost by regretting his days
he learns how to die as he sits and he waits

a spirit set free is entwined with the breeze
drifting with glee as it leaves behind grief
ecstasy found by shifting apart
we learn that it ends with the place that it starts

subtle interations

happy is the sun
sad is the earth
angry is the moon
worms in the dirt

subtle interations
basis of our worth
this historic social system
humanity's own curse

self destruction
there is a dimness behind the wall of my subconscious
a silhouette of the thoughts i dare not think

there is a division in myself that desires loneliness
feeds off the action of the undecided

there is a piece to my puzzle that just won't fit
the entirety is half complete

there is a suffering that we are all acquainted with
afflicted, tortured, anguished by ourselves

complete selfishness
behind the archaic unwritten law is the actual
us mortals have fabricated a shaky means to exist
helplessly we dominate our reality with selfishness
mankind is one component of a complex system

WE ARE NOT THE CENTER OF TIME AND SPACE!
subconscious subtleties
the sun falls yet again
yet again i fall asleep
these dreams consist of feeling
subconscious subtleties

for moments i'm alive right there
surrounded by fictitious cares
is this the realm where i belong?
where yes is no and right is wrong
the inventors
a sobering silence crashed and swept the room
listeners gazed with unfastened eyes and tenacious ears
tuning into the emptiness they hear nothing but their own minds
voices of doubt, fear, uncertainty, and confusion

as this somber silence persists the invented voices become more animated
stemming from thought-structures their soul's been building for centuries
tuning into the emptiness they hear nothing but their own inventions
inventions of doubt, fear, uncertainty, and confusion

can't we see that we invent our doubt?
can't we see that we invent our fear?
can't we see that we invent our uncertainty?
can't we see that we invent our confusion?

every thought is an invention
invent your reality
typical-types
the homeless wander to and frow
they chart the map; just take it slow

the business man is quick to move
he counts the endless tasks to do

the careless man is slow to speak
he wears no mask to hide his grief

the busy-body spits his mind
he shoots the shit but wastes no time

the simple man will fall in love
he wants nothing but her sweet love

the robot boy will die alone
he sits and waits to inject oil
true significance
lifetimes consumed by fleeting recollection
is time just like wind working in all directions?

born into bewilderment baffled by beyond
where do i stand or even come from?

a lifetime is there and then it is gone
is there true significance or nothing at all?
save me
meet me where the earth is rearranged
find me where this logic is not strange
tell me every thought that runs so deep
save me before i dare take this leap

my last desire
i'm sitting here on a dark cloud
shielded by the rain you catch only glimpse of the fire

it burns away all doubt
it boils the blood of all impurities

i am like a bird that has never learned to fly
your heart is a wishing well that grants this dream for flight

spreading my new found wings
i feel as of a peasant discovering he is king

as i let go of the hurt that i have carried for centuries…

i discover a new clarity
i encompass a new hope
i renew myself of fire
your love is my sunlight
you are my last desire

equivalent duality
yes or no
certainty or doubt
pleasure or pain
loss or gain

it is the same.
